Why would someone stand in a long regular lane with two items when there is a perfectly good self checkout open?

Because 1) I like to talk to human beings and 2) if we all use the self checkouts the shop will eventually just fire all the staff. I don't think that's moral, and it would then make point 1 harder anyway
