To try to hold onto this one as long as possible, because I cannot believe in another; malheureusement. And welcome back. The sum total of your personality is unique!

@alan20 Thank you so much and I am truly flattered you think my personality is unique. May I be so bold as to ask you to elaborate?

@SW-User At my age I should know to keep out of minefields! You're humane yet analytical; very patient yet can come over as cold. The latter is probably best when interacting with someone who intends to stay married. You're intelligent but I'd say you've a sense of humour. And I've been missing you for two years - your insights that is. I think I've dug the hole deep enough. Have you any views that are fit to write, on me?

@alan20 Why would it be a minefield when all it is, is a genuine appreciation of another human? I'm so happy you missed my insights. I'm definitely looking forward to future exchanges.
It's so funny, someone else told me today how I appear so cold. 😅 Well. I like your perspective on me.
You're obviously so intelligent, so well spoken, I think you have a certain standard you never cross, you have a subtle way of letting the other person know your boundaries as well as your interests.

@SW-User Minefield? Because I genuinely hate hurting, especially someone I've come to appreciate. That's the only standard I would hope not to cross - that I know of. The most horrible thing that happened to me in life was deeply hurting without in any way wanting to - someone who meant more to me than anyone. Mind you it was 50:50 by her marrying another - as she would acknowledge! Human relationships are incredibly complex. I was thinking about this last night : two men can be friendly because it doesn't usually go beyond the superficial - affection, expressed by humour or mutual interests - but it doesn't go beyond that. A man and a woman are usually different. Once you go beyond the level of talking about say the night sky - how it reminds one of mortality and the insignificance of the individual, how perfectly Debussy's music depicts the yearning for something outside oneself. Looking back at the awfulness of what I've just written - I'll not write the word "beyond" yet again !!

@alan20 Usually, not always. And I'm not even sure about usually. The only thing required is clear cut honesty of boundaries.
