Do 50 year olds watch Hentai? Or anime?

It's a matter of generation rather than age. The thing about anime is that when you enjoy it as a kid you'll most likely keep watching it as an adult. When I was a little girl in the 90s it wasn't common for adults over the age of 20 to watch anime in my part of the world since it was considered to be kiddy stuff. Now, it's a different story. Not sure about Hentai though

Anime and hentai got popular in the early 90s so that wouldn’t be unusual. I traded comics back then and became familiar with “Ghost in the Shell”.

Hentai isn't my get-down, but I enjoy anime. I'm past the point of giving a sh*t what anyone thinks. I'd rather spend an afternoon binge watching anime than watching a football game these days. (sorry Pittsburgh, still luv ya, just not as much.)

I'd suspect there are a number of people pushing 50 still watching some anime. it managed to push well past the idea of animated things just being for children years ago, a good many may have held on. not sure about hentai, really.
