How does your family decide who opens their gifts first?

We go by youngest to oldest. I used to be one of the youngest but I"m somewhere towards the middle now. I remember being I think 7/8 and they tried switching the order one year so the oldest would go first. I was so mad I stormed out of the living room where everyone was and pouted in the kitchen. I was crying, huffing and puffing about it in a corner by the stove. Needless to say they never tried switching the order again.

It's always been random in my family.. The person playing santa sits next to the pile of pressents and just grabs them one at a time..
I’m not sure if they did it in any particular order, but everyone had to be in the living room at the same time. Nobody could get up early and go in, our parents would collect us from our bedrooms. They put our large gifts in different corners of the room, then would hand us packages. Each child at a time would open their gifts from our parents, and from each other, then the next child, until we’d all opened our gifts, then the eldest of us gave gifts to our parents, and they’d exchange gifts.
I hadn’t thought about it in years, since once we left home, we no longer woke up there on Christmas morning. Now we go for Christmas supper and bring gifts mostly for our parents and our niece.

@Azlotto Yeah I'm better now but when I was little like that I was a giant brat. I used to get super bent out of shape about the dumbest stuff.
