I've always wondered that, too.
@mummy No, you don't HAVE to.
You can just observe, if you want. 👁️👁️ 😁

@PhoenixPhail hehe thats what i am doing ;)
@mummy 🤗😘

I have been here for 4 years. While i agree with every group i am in, i may not always have much to share about it publicly.
@Jouselet true, but you can also do that by seeing how many groups you share with a person, and discussing them privately.

@PrivateHell True, but that doesn't give others the ability of saying hi, or whatever!
@Jouselet one would think so.

but in this place all bets are off.

Yes - I use groups more like they were on the old EP site where they were originally imported from. On there people would look in a group to find members to talk to rather than just always use them to post under.

But SW isn't like that - soon we'll get the new categories and they'll all be reclassified anyway
I would never do that and in my opinion this site shouldn't be used that way, it feels manipulative, and also when people write one sentence and leave the context out, like they are drawing an ink blot for YOU.

Not a story, this place is for people who write and wanna communicate.

good question

I'm too lazy to post and I feel like I'd be the guy with 0 comments or views on potential posts

@deadgerbil So you're saying lots about yourself without much effort!
@deadgerbil hell of a way to build up a site and give it a sparkling reputation as an oasis of humanity and sharing and relief from the insane broken life imposed on us all the time.

Here it is.

But dead gerbils are kinda inert I suppose.

I think the way this site works, every post you make has a heading which is a group.
Make a post with that heading, you have joined that group.
That is why I am a "Member" of 434 groups.

A lot of the time you get a bunch of judgement rather than people who relate. I don't always feel like opening up about every view I have.
