Should the bass guitar follow the rythm or lead?
I dont think i can, the bass has its own rendering , but i try to sink it with the drums. Is that ok.

It can do anything. It depends what you want to do...
It has a strong rhythm section role and should work with the drummer. But it can pick up counter melodies, bounce of what the other instruments are doing, counterpoint...
If you're inexperienced - stay close to the drummer.
