I’ve decided rather going back to trucking I want to get a plumbing apprenticeship. I’d never be out a job, but would the union allow a worker to buy

Rental property/commercial property? I’d plan to retire at 50 living off the rent money generated from these properties.

it's none of their concern, what you do with your earned money.

@lovelywarpedlemon do you know anyone working for a union and doing this? I agree you’re right on this, but they might kick me out for not relying on them to provide solely.
@MrAboo sorry you should ask HR if it would be a conflict of interest. i don't see why it would.

@MrAboo Well you could ask if any of their union members are allowed to acquire real estate for rental properties on the side. And I assume you would get a hard copy of the rules or the contract (if you have to sign one) and could have it checked by a lawyer or other person knowledgeable in union rules.

@lovelywarpedlemon when the time comes I’ll do just that. Thank you.

@cherokeepatti that’s another great point. Thank you

@MrAboo What if you had inherited some rental properties, would they have a say in that as well? If not then why would they care if you bought them with your own money?

@cherokeepatti a certain amount of your money goes to pay the union, I just figured if they knew about my plans that they would try to take more.

@MrAboo Are they legally allowed to milk people for more money that way rather than have a set rate?

@cherokeepatti I have no idea, I don’t know much about unions, so I’m skeptical of them
