Who will you give preference to? Young just out of college guy or an experienced fellow to be a part of your company? And why?

I would like to train someone straight out of college. Will be a benefit to the company in many ways mostly financially. An experienced person would expect an experienced salary a trainee will settle knowing that he comes with no experience.

What if right after the training he quits? Will that not amount to a lose of your training cost and valuable time?
@littlewonder1990: good point! A person leaves for many reasons, most common one is the need for growth. If the trainee can not see growth for him/ herself then it's clear his not the person the company needs. Ofc it will be a loss but I think letting such people go leaves room for the employment of a gem just waiting to be snatched.

@SweetnDemented: But that gem would again be a trainee at your company and then the whole process will start all over again. Is it not easier to just look for someone with experience and see to it that he gets enough perks to be faithful to the company?
@littlewonder1990: probably but in my experience with those types I would rather take that chance with a trainee. All of the above are scenarios. Just like the trainee could be happy and stay even after being trained
