I've known a few people who seemed to like telling tall tales, and of whom I never felt like I could trust them entirely. If they were manipulative, it didn't work on me. They were all interesting people, just not ones you could rely upon.

@SincerelyHer88 I have wondered way they do it. But it all seems to boil down to a mental illness. Even doing it for attention is still mentally unhealthy and therefore still an illness.

I've known a few. The worst was an attorney who had been trying to convince me to date him but would never publicly show interest. He would tell stories about how amazing he was and how great he was and I was like "Nothing you say will make me cheat on my partner with you."
