How do I react?

A close friend recently told me that she just despises anything that is not white and I was just BLOWN away and EXTREMELY confused and taken couple steps back.

Apparently an African American man tried to hit on her and it really upset her because and I quote "how dare he?" I am hurt that someone I've grown up with and known so well is that hateful

I’ve remained friends with folks like this In the past ...but no more. It’s not cool and I no longer just tolerate racist people. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Oddly enough, there’s now a lot less assholes in my life 🤣

I had a similar situation with a long time family friend who out of no where said she would've disowned her daughter if she went out with a black guy. I literally had no idea how to react.

And you call this person a close friend? Obviously, you don't know her that well, and why would you be friends with someone like that or even give her the time of day?

[c=#4C0073]you really should not be friends with her anymore, like seriously.

Also, i am lacist toward my own race .. damn flied lice eating monglels[/c]
Its up to you how you react really. Some people choose to stay friends with people with different views they don't agree with and others do not. This view is pretty extreme nd ignorant, personally I wouldn't continue associating with anyone racist, sexist or homophobic. I wouldn't associate with someone who was unfaithful to their spouse either
Label her a racist and leave her

thatd be just horrible to discover
There's no need for racism... a simple "No, thank you" should have been enough for her.

U're overreacting, imo...thats how she felt, period.

She is being very judgemental about mixed couples.

The first thing that you said is not analogous to the second thing. Did she actually say that she "despises anything that's not white"...or just isn't into black guys? Those are two different concepts. One is allowed to have preferences in that area.

Now, if someone goes off on some truly hateful speech about black people(or any group as such), it gets me antsy. I'm not certain why. I think it's because I believe that you can't put that bad vibe out there and expect anything good to come of it.

I've also seen people turn around and make friends with people of those groups and realize how ridiculous they were being. I've also seen people play the race card to every personal advantage and to the detriment of everyone else.

Some people are on a journey. Others have watched way too much cable news. These are tough issues. People are packages of good and bad. It's a challenge to find the right path.
