I'm pretty sure we won't be singing it in church anytime soon. It has some Christian themes but.....

@hippyjoe1955 yeah, but there is this whole genre of Christian pop. I just researched it, it's called Contemporary Cristian music (ccm). It just doesn't say anything about it in the description of the song about it tho. So was wondering of y'alls opinions.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Dan193 Yeah it is bad music and bad theology blended together to make Christianity look bad.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 Idk about that. I actually like it. Plus it shows appreciation. Did u listen to it?
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Dan193 I read the lyrics. I am not a fan of anything Bieber has put out. Not to my taste.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 I see. The melody gives a different mood I suppose.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Dan193 I wouldn't know. I simply don't care for the word jumble. I much prefer a clear and simple declaration.

Compare:

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light
Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one
Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart

@Dan193
I hear a lot about sinners
Don't think that I'll be a saint
But I might go down to the river
'Cause the way that the sky opens up when we touch
Yeah, it's making me say

That the way you hold me, hold me, hold me, hold me, hold me
Feels so holy, holy, holy, holy, holy
On God
Runnin' to the altar like a track star
Can't wait another second
'Cause the way you hold me, hold me, hold me, hold me, hold me feels so holy

I don't do well with the drama
And no I can't stand it being fake (No, no, no, no, no, no no no)
I don't believe in nirvana
But the way that we love in the night gave me life
Baby I can't explain

That the way you hold me, hold me, hold me, hold me, hold me
Feels so holy, holy, holy, holy, holy
On God
Runnin' to the altar like a track star
Can't wait another second
'Cause the way you hold me, hold me, hold me, hold me, hold me feels so holy

They say we're too young and
The pimps and the players say, "Don't go crushing"
Wise men say fools rush in
But I don't know
They say we're too young and
The pimps and the players say, "Don't go crushing"
Wise men say fools rush in
But I don't know (Chance, the Rapper)
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 yeah, this looks pretty straight up
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 His is more of a merging with love and his emotions. But the message is a good one. And that's why I like it.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Dan193 I have yet to figure out what his message is. His thoughts appear to be so scrambled you can read almost anything into them. Is he talking about sex or agape or being a hooker or being a fool or......
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 check out the picture FairyDust shared of his post on instagram, down bellow your answer. That's his interpretation. To me, I like it because to me he speaks about his appreciation to God for what he was blessed with.
Basically like a thank you song.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Dan193 I don't doubt anyone's salvation or their gratitude to whoever. The point I am making is it doesn't rise to what I consider good lyrics. It lacks rhythm and rhyme and clear meaning. If you find joy it it then good for you. Not criticizing you for liking it. I am simply saying that from a worship perspective I would not be picking it to sing during a Sunday service. I listened to the music and still don't care for his style. Dear Wife listened with me and she believes as I do he is talking about his wife/girlfriend not God.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@hippyjoe1955 oh haha no Sunday service song of course 😆 And yeah I understand.
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
@Dan193 Let me put it this way. I doubt that the writer was trying to write a gospel song. He was writing a love ballad to his wife and in doing so hinting that he is a Christian by using Christian terms and references.
