I have a pair of Gloria Vanderbilt jeans I bought about 30 years ago on sale. I have worn them over all these years and they only get better looking. They are soft and comfortable. They have faded beautifully over the years, the kind of real fade that cannot be fully and accurately imitated by artificial means in a jean factory. They accommodate my huge hips and even make me look good, a near impossibility at my age and weight. I actually felt sad when I found out what a rough childhood Ms. Vanderbilt had. I have felt bad that I've never thanked her for these wonderful jeans that fit a fat lady like an opera glove. Should I write a letter to her company?
Maybe I should. Those jeans are the best and most worn article of clothing in my wardrobe.
