What if they only taught math up to fractions?
I hear that there's talk of not teaching algebra or trig to high school students anymore since they never use it. It would be an option.

Lots of stuff is good to know whether you use it directly or not. You could say no one ever uses a novel or poem they read at school, but it still forms part of their knowledge.
