Defund the BBC?

It’s funny how the British patriots wish to defund the BBC. They complain they have to pay for TV license when they don’t watch it and have expressed their distaste that the proms won’t be playing rule Britannia lol. So why complain about them not playing it when you don’t watch the BBC anyway? Talk about self-contradictory lol

It's a belief that the crowd you mix with and 'everyone I know thinks the same as me'. When a broadcaster tries to represent a whole population and its views it's bound to upset some people. This morning I heard a well known media exec speaking on BBC radio make the statement that the BBC had misread the public mood over Brexit and the election of the Conservatives. It should have been challenged. Just under half of those voting in the Brexit referendum voted Remain and most British governments get in on a minority of the vote. In a democracy debate never stops and a public service broadcaster never stops reporting it. In North Korea it's different of course.

As a comedian suggested in a very amusing sketch recently on S4C (the Welsh channel) what some people want is not a television service showing them the world but a mirror.

By the way, I have plenty of criticisms of the BBC and other broadcasters but that for another posting.

@Frank52 of course we are just referring to this point. In all fairness what ever other people’s reasons for defunding the BBC are they’re forgetting the BBC has been a representative of the British for years, they forget the BBC is the first and longest running tv broadcast in the world. We should be aiming to reform it before deciding to defund it altogether.

I'd hate to see the BBC defunded.
It produces some of the best television in the world.
