I am lucky my kids are grown up.. and I really felt for those parents struggling to homeschool. it wasn't easy and in some cases no matter how they tried, it wasn't successful..
but. but.. what is the alternative? No real choice... better to try, I think and do a little than not to try? No one would expect you to be as good as a teacher no..

I homeschooled each of my children for a time. Anyone can do that as there as good teaching materials out there. But what is more important to realize is that you teach your children every day with every action. If you drink heavily to escape a bad job, your children are learning. If you give generously to those who have little, they are watching. If you make racist statements about people who don’t look like you, your kids are learning. Over the course of their mental, intellectual, and emotional development, you teach them profoundly.

I do think every parent, should be expected to "teach" their children. I agree, that no parent should feel bad or inferior...because they don't know everything their offspring might be learning by a more knowledgeable teacher...in a school.

Sadly, I understand your position.
But I feel it is more proper for the parents to teach their children. It is the parents job, not the government.
When a couple has a Baby, it is not the government's job to feed it, bathe it, diaper it, and support it. It is the role of the parents.
It actually is the role of the parents to bring that child to maturity, and maturity would be considered to be about the age of 18.
If you allow the government to be the educator, aka parent, they will become a product of the government. If you are the educator, aka parent, they will become a product of you.
Children are supposed to become the product of their parents, not of the government.

Yep, god help my child if she doesn't get back to school in September I dont think I was much help to her during lockdown lol
I'm more worried about the stupid parents having more time to indoctrinate their kids.
