It is headed my way next.

I hope I do not lose power.

@Stereoguy I am glad you are safe.

I have a freezer full of ice cream and meat. Ugh.

@Stereoguy When we have mass outages it takes a while, particularly my place. It is a long story, but when I lose power it is usually only my building and a couple others, so it is not high priority for the power company.

@Stereoguy The whole neighborhood has all the wires underground, except one small part. The wires come out of the ground to a pole, then through a wooded section of a park, then down into the ground. So tree branches periodically take out the power. It feeds only a few buildings of my apartment complex. I know, because once these few buildings were dark and everybody else had power. I found the outage, and figured out all the rest by tracing the wires later when they fixed them.

@Stereoguy They prioritize the repairs that have the largest impact, or are for key infrastructure. A few apartment buildings are low priority.

@Stereoguy It think that is how it is everywhere. It does make sense.

I just wish they would put the wires underground. They got lazy or somebody wanted to save money, who knows. It is in a forest so maybe they did not want to bother digging it up. Had it been developed or a road they would have done it, I presume.

@Stereoguy I will be moving away in a year or two, most likely.

My office is moving from DC out to PG county in MD.

I am not looking forward to working in a ghetto. I have no idea where to live, either.

@Stereoguy That would not be a good commute. There is also no trains out to there.

I live between DC and Baltimore now, on the train line.

Yet if I move out to PG county, or to the east or south, I will likely have to drive in. The location is on the Metro but near the end of the line, already. I do not want to live closer to DC, especially on the east side of town.

I had planned to explore the area this summer to plan ahead, but PG County is a hotspot for the Virus, and I do not want to make unnecessary trips.

@Stereoguy Yeah. Downsizing and cost cutting. Our lease is up and we don't use all the space. So they decided to find a smaller and cheaper place.

@Stereoguy I work for the federal government, now in the hands of Trump. So they do not care about us. We will lose a lot of people. But I am 11 years from retirement. I do not want to start over.

@Stereoguy I think I could survive in Alabama. At least it would not be cold.

But I am a liberal atheist, so I might not fit in with the locals.
