Labradors?

I have never heard a bad thing about a Labrador Retriever, but even dogs with a fierce reputation can be gentle with children, and other pets.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
Golden retrievers are sweethearts, Labrador retrievers are too but they are not to be trusted around birds
@cherokeepatti Oh, no. I feel like you are speaking from experience. 😯
I have family members who own retrievers and they seem to be very gentle and willing to play.

@lauriethecolourful My grandpa had a Lab and he went to California for a month & we brought the dog to our farm to take care of him & he wouldn’t leave our chickens alone. He’d get inside the fenced chicken area & catch & kill them & chew on them. My aunt whipped him with a dead chicken to try to scare him & tied it to his neck, that didn’t work. So she brought him in the house. She was in the kitchen doing something & heard the bird cage fall over, went and found seeds and the cage scattered. No bird but a bunch of feathers. Cleaned up the cage & put it away & swept the floor. The dog sitting there looking guilty. Next day she got the vacuum cleaner out and vacuumed the living room & the parakeet came walking out from under neath the sofa, and he had a naked butt from where the dog had grabbed him by the feathers & pulled them out.

A Labrador is great to have around young kids. They are very easy-going and loving.

@cherokeepatti Awww despite their little size 🥺
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@SW-User A lot of older people really love them though. They baby them. I’ve seen older men put them in the pocket of their overalls to keep them warm so they wouldn’t shake so much.

@cherokeepatti Darn that’s hella cute

Find a lovable mutt. The sweetest dogs I've ever known were mixed breed mutts.

It's not about breeds, it's about their personality, individual brain chemistry, and how you raise them.
@MartinTheFirst This is absolutely true. All dogs are affectionate, but I found that some smaller dogs don't like to be bothered too much. Our poor dog would need to endure a lot of love. We will train him/her to be a therapy dog.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
@lauriethecolourful saint bernards are usually therapy dogs, but once again you have to do a lot of good training.
