What’s a book advance in college?

My guy friend said they sent him a book advance check but he didn’t opt in for it. He got his check and he’s wondering if he need to send it back?
Maybe he can use it for his books in high school.

Well it may have to do with financial aid. Sometimes there will some amount allotted to purchasing books/materials for courses built into a financial aid package. Why not just ask him?

@AutismGirl18 not sure why he would be in trouble? Do you mean if he took it? Well not trouble.. but he would have to pay it back unless its a completely subsidized financial aid package. Honestly without knowing the details, there isnt much I can say about it

@pknein I think he should pay it back. I’m mean he didn’t need it so what’s the point? He said he may have to send it back or he may use it for his future class in the fall. I told him he needs to send it back.
If I was him he needs to send it back.
