why do most old people prefer to live in a suburb or countryside rather than a big metropolitan city?

Because metropoleis (correct plural btw!) are fun and exciting but also really horrible, miserable, polluted, and generally suck the life out of everyone if they're there long enough.

Some people can take living in cities happily enough, but no one is meant to. Human beings belong in a green world not a concrete one.
