There's some truth to that. Many people want to be close to you because of what you can offer/give to them. I live in NYC, and this place is full of users. People who will use you for their own benefits. However they are a select few that are truly your friends. People who like you for you.

It's not a try thing . It's either or. Either you care enough to keep in touch or you don't.
Like psst hey you wanna try the friend thing? I've got some time, usually in afternoon wanna give it a whirl and see how it goes?

@kentex35 right

Last time I had true friends I was in high school. There have been so many disappointments thereafter that I have no energy left to invest in a friendship. But some are more fortunate I guess. 🙂

I have had the same best friend for over 20 years

@SW-User you're lucky I like many others out grew my friends from my younger years.

@SoulAsylum real friendship is hard to find
There are still real friends out there. But yes, you have to weed through the users.

I have some I've known for 10+ years.

That's not the truth for me, the way I am with my friends isn't a constant stream of bartering favors, it's just to talk, go out somewhere, have some drinks and so on. Of course I could rely on then if I need help or vise versa but that's not the foundation of the relationship

Been wondering quite a bit lately, what is my problem with making friends. I have next to none, and don't usually let it bug me but there are times I really long for a few

Hey! You’re back! :)

Sorry that’s been your experience.

Yeah I get what you’re saying, genuine friendship versus fake book trophies 🏆 lol
HannibalMontanimal · 26-30, M
Yeah but life is borinf without them if even if they are shitty sometimes
SoulAsylum · 36-40, M
@HannibalMontanimal and the older you get it seems the harder it is to get new friends.
