Local news only hires sexy young girls

Years ago only men read the news. Now it seems that local news mainly hire skinny, sexy, very young female reporters, anchors and weather people. Is this ok or should they also have older women with various body types? I’m not asking for them to be PC. Simply do not want under 25 and under 100 lbs to be a requirement to get a job.

I can name a lot of women who are over 25 and over 100 pounds who work in news.

The younger reporters are the cheapest reporters. Experienced people cost more money.

They should hire whomever they like.
There isn't enough 5 foot 9 guys in the NBA or overweight strippers or unattractive fashion models....life isnt fair.

@FreeSpirit1 There are companies out there that provide information/data about who the audience is, and what the audience wants, and agents who introduce buyers to sellers. Same game different params.

Maybe they should hire people qualified to do the job? In our area, you will need to watch the Fox affiliate for this sort of stuff.

@SecondMarge How about an experienced meteorologist to do the weather. I'm sure Walter Cronkite could read, but that's not the only thing that qualified him for his job.

I don't know if that's on purpose and I've seen cases where that isn't true. I think a lot of people who apply for TV jobs put a lot of effort into being secure with themselves which might mean for them that they stay in shape so they aren't paranoid about it. I don't think it's some conspirisy.

It's an image, another way of getting ratings, more men watch the news so course if you have a pretty hot looking girl more men are gonna watch the channel, might be bad but that's how it goes.
