@SW-User a lot of us would do the same if in their position though. I know I'd damn sure cross a border, legally or not, if I felt my child was in danger and had a shot at a better life in a different place.

@SW-User but that wouldn't make the fact that we did it wrong by default. Something being a crime doesn't automatically make it "wrong". Like people who steal food as their only way to survive. Yes, it is illegal. But at the end of the day, that human life is worth more than the food it stole. On a moral level, that's not wrong at all. And even less so if you steal it with the intent of saving a child- same theory with illegal immigration. My mom came here illegally and none of us have ever had any regrets at all over it lol

@SW-User no dear, it's not wrong lol. The fact that it's the law, again, doesn't make breaking that law wrong by default. So slaves were wrong when they ran from their masters? Black people were wrong when they refused to stand on the bus for white people? Women who illegally voted were wrong? Laws that people break to get away from imminent danger and oppression do not naturally equate to wrong.

@Lucyy as a first gen American, I agree. Immigration is the American way. Native Americans are literally the only non-immigrants here. Aiding in immigration should be a top priority in our country in my opinion. People wouldn't HAVE to do it illegally if they would fix the system through which people came here. Funny how when all the white immigrants wanted to come here and take the territory from people who already lived here it wasn't an issue. But people who want to come here to avoid war, danger, poverty, etc are now considered the enemy.

@AmmieBell my family has been here for generations and generations. But I support immigration on a wider scale too just because it doesn't make sense to do anything else. Like .. people were bringing immigrants over to do their hard labor for them. Forcing them to be slaves. So they would forcibly bring them over as they wanted them to do their hard labor for them, but now that it's been outlawed to do that, they want to put up hardcore restrictions on immigration? If you look at the history of it, that's when immigration suddenly became an issue in our history. When the labor drivers suddenly realized they couldn't have full control over the immigrants. "if I can't own you, you can't be here" is a sick mentality, and it's what the dissaproval to immigration is based upon. Our land was built on immigrants by force- but a lot of those immigrants were slaves. People don't like to acknowledge that when debating immigration though. Immigrants actually MAKE more money than they take from the country, since they end up doing the essential jobs that "natural" Americans won't do themselves. Our economy would all but collapse it all illegal immigrants were gone.

Took people by force from other countries and brought them here and now want to talk about how they can't be here? Refuse to do your own farm work, repair work, physical labor, but want to talk about how the people you hire to do the hard stuff can't be here? And they be wild with it too. My father is native American and he's deadass had people call him an immigrant and told him he shouldn't be here.
