My friend was laughing at me for this 😤. Apparently, chai means tea (which makes sense now as I know chaiya means tea)... so basically I was going around saying tea tea latte (chai tea latte) 😶
*puts on nerd glasses* there are essentially two ways of saying tea, all around the world—tea or some variation of it, and chai or some variation of it. It depends on the trade route that the tea took to leave China. If it took the land route, cha or chai is more predominant. If it took the sea route, tea or teh is more predominant.
If it makes you feel any better I didn't know that Bao meant bun so saying bao bun is basically saying bun bun. I mean damn I don't speak chinese how the heck am I supposed to know.
