People, if you have guns KEEP THEM LOCKED UP in a safe and/or with trigger locks. Especially if there are children in the house. That includes vehicle trunks and glove compartments. There are a huge number of tragic accidents with guns in this country because people leave loaded guns where others can get access to them. LOCK IT UP!

@badminton no children in my house unless you count cats.

@badminton my children have been and are constantly trained because we are a gun family . We all shoot .

Training your kids is just common sense anyway ... but we do , as the law requires, lock our weapons up if not in our direct line of sight

@TexChik With a revolver you can use an ordinary padlock. You can also use a cable lock. Swing open the cylinder and pass the lock thru the top strap. The revolver is now inoperable.

@TexChik Children are fascinated by guns. Even if they have been trained I would keep all guns locked up.

I know a guy with young children in the house, who came up with a solution. For his bedside gun he uses a .32 Savage 1907 semi-auto pistol. He chose that pistol because the slide works very hard, too hard for children to be able to pull. He leaves it his night stand with a loaded mag, empty chamber.
