With everyone staying home now do you think that will help with pollution and the ozone layer?

It will definitely help reduce surface pollution due to factories shutting down. In fact, air quality over China has improved considerably since much of the nation was confined to their homes. We can expect a similar improvement in the US and other countries, though it will be temporary until point sources come back on line.

With respect to the ozone layer, that is primarily impacted by the use of chlorofluorocarbons released through human use. Since these were banned in the early 1990s, the ozone hole has been gradually reduced in size and duration, and continues to recover. People staying home should have little impact, since the chlorofluorocarbons are already banned.

@Stereoguy If people shelter in place and reduce automobile use, yes.

@Stereoguy There should also be a slight increase in sunshine across the country due to a reduction in cloud formation from airplane contrails. We saw that happen when planes were grounded after 9/11.

@Stereoguy A reduction in auto emissions should reduce NOx, CO2, CO, and hydrocarbon levels in your local air.

@Stereoguy Great time to enjoy the environment. If you want to see a clear sky, go to the desert southwest away from the cities and you'll see stars like you've never seen them before.

@Stereoguy Make sure you include Canyonlands NP in your itinerary. The part south of Moab.

@Stereoguy Sedona is cool. Be sure to drive the oak creek canyon.

@Stereoguy Sedona is nice, but too many people for my taste. I like more remote places.
