Apple has always been a good company, whereas MS is and will always be the evil empire.

@helenS Apple FORCES you to upgrade your already insanely expensive hardware within a certain time frame across ALL of their devices.

@Rokasu My Macbook Air is nine years old, and it runs the most recent system software (10.15.3). The hardware is excellent. I don't need much software, just a good text editor and the "Terminal" app, which is a pretty good terminal emulator.
[PS My iPhone is five years old I think)

@helenS From a business perspective that's awful. From a consumer perspective you've been slowly but surely losing speed and likely not noticed it. 10 years ago is... DDR3 ram if you're lucky. Probably some 1333 MHz speed.

You could get away with any regular ol' PC and a completely free Linux kernal. Apple isn't doing you any favors by "simplifying the process". They're still way over priced pieces of hardware for a one-off OS.

@Rokasu I respect your opinion. I'm quite happy with my Macbook. The OS is based on Unix and it prints. 馃榿

@helenS I wish that was an opinion 馃槖

@Rokasu Oh, of course, your opinions are infallible truths.

@helenS Must feel good playing the absolute source as it so pleases you.
