How observant are you? I'm trying to be more observant, but I still fail miserably.

Today I opened one of my cabinets, and I saw something taped inside the cabinet door. I can't believe I never noticed it. I open that cabinet door all the time, and I'm just now seeing it. That's just crazy. I really need to work on my situational awareness skills.

very! One of my ptsd issues is personal safety. Between 25 years of martial arts and 18 years of firearm training and practice...My situational awareness is off the chart. If Im going to go into the grocery at night I don't park next to vans or someone sitting in their vehicle. I look to see if anyone is watching me before I exit my vehicle. I carry so I have my carry purse on my shoulder and my hand on my weapon before I get out. I watch every thing. If I don't like what I see or feel , I just go home or my husband will come back with me. For those of you who train, its always condition yellow as soon as I step out my door to get in my truck. I still go to malls and movie houses , but my head is on a swivel and I am always assessing people who are in proximity to me. Its habit. The fine details start to stand out to you after a while.

@SW-User It actually saved my life once. So now I am super vigilant by myself. When my hubby and I are out together he gets a little aggravated but understands why. I try to tone it down around him

@TexChik I understand that!

@TexChik How did you get your training? Are you a public servant/officer or something?

Why vans? Why not trucks or SUVs?

For the record, I only notice my lack of observation skills when I'm at home. That's the only time I notice things that weren't the same way in the past (whether it's a day, few days, week or whatever). When I'm outside my home I'm very, very observant. "Head on a swivel" is an understatement for me. People probably think I'm either crazy or casing a joint. Lol. I'm constantly watching everything if I'm not in my house. But, I notice things have changed inside my home sometimes. Like that piece of paper taped inside of my kitchen cabinet door --- I don't remember seeing that before.

I don't miss a beat. I notice everything. I have ADHD. I'll spot a magpie 400 yards to my left when no one else sees it.
This is an art. But once you hone this skill you will love what you discover and can deduce about people.

So what was taped to the door??
perceptivei · 36-40, F
@Laughman Why say that? It's the same thing as 7:30.

@perceptivei that's my dry sense of humour :)

@Laughman Lol. 🤦‍♀️ Sorry. It was funny. I'm just slow. 🦥🐢
