If you're working minimum wage, then it means they've already got you by the balls. You can't leave them because you need them.

I would tell your boss that this year you want a great review and work hard and then either ask for a raise after the review or apply somewhere else. Why not get more training in something like appraising. They can work for themselves and can make tons of money? You can find something you love.
