The Constitution does allow clergy to become president, however the [i]Roman Catholic Church [/i]forbids them to run for elected office because it would entail participating in the exercise of civil power. On the other hand, [i]Baptist ministers[/i] like Jesse Jackson and Mike Huckabee (who are also politicians) did run for president.
