I had this plan to tell everyone that I'm leaving (work), when I'm going on vacation. Like a prank, also to get them to miss me more.

Anyway, I told a guy at work today, and he was ligitimally sad, so now I feel bad. Should I power through it, or should I just not do it?

Don't do it. And tell the truth to the guy you duped. Keep life clear and simple, it's easier.
