Would you be angry if a store employee followed you outside to take a closeup photo of you and your car and license plate?

Ive gone to this spa biweekly for about one year and have always paid promptly including generous tip. This time I forgot my wallet and I quickly explained everything. I gave the manager my phone number and apologized. I explained that I would return within 15 min. She asked me to leave my cellphone with her which I declined to do. She reluctantly approved me to leave and said please return. And once I got in my car the paparazzi employee ran out snapping every photo that they could from every angle. When I came back within about 10 minutes to pay I told her that I would not be back again because that behavior was rude. She said sorry and literally ran away after swiping my card.

No, I wouldn't be offended. They're just covering their own asses. I'm sure the employee would not do this, if they made enough money to visit the spa regularly. However, most estheticians have a salary that is just above minimum wage. Minimum wage is not a liveable wage. Thus, I doubt they could afford to pay your bill, if you never came back, and would not wish to risk losing their job.

If anything, it sounds like they lost a difficult customer, which really isn't a loss for them.

@SnailTeeth You are trolling. How can a customer who never caused any issue and gave them so much money during the year be difficult for forgetting their wallet once? Never had any issues there before, never made any complaints.

@REMsleep You're not considering their financial circumstances, and I don't understand why someone taking pictures of your license plate would offend/upset you. You're being neurotic. It sounds like standard protocol, because if you don't pay, then they can contact the authorities with your license plate information, and have them look into the matter.

@SnailTeeth I just meantioned that if they wanted to take a photo of my license plate that I would have been perfectly fine. They told me to go on and then rudely snuck up behind my car while I was about to drive off and took many photos of my face close up at the window, my license plate, my car. That was rude there are no two ways about it. Especially rude towards a well known regular well paying customer. The manager and several staff know me. You are not considered all facts. If you had been treated that way I doubt that you would be so understanding. I gave the manager all my contact info and anything she asked for. I also failed to meantion that I own a business and I understand the cost of doing business you do not treat your customers a certain way in order to protect from losses. I doubt that they would have filed a police report anyway.

@REMsleep Perhaps, I do think people tend to overreact, and this just could be a case of both parties overreacting.

@SnailTeeth Ok I guess feeling offended is an overeaction in your book because thats all that I did. I won't spend my hard earned money in a place where people treat me that way and when I got back there to tell her she swiped my card and ran away. Shameful. Not respectful

@REMsleep Have you tried asking yourself what's the point in getting offended? Does being offended serve you well in your life?
