@SW-User So do you deny the colonial oppression your race did in favor of your history filled with oppression? ๐Ÿค”
SW-User
@Kwek00 I've had family not talk to me, or mine because they've blamed my dad for shit that happened hundreds of years before he was born. That's stupid.
Kwek00 ยท 41-45, M
@SW-User Yeah, that is in fact stupid. But there is a diffrence between blame and denial here.

If you wanna get serious, cause I was just messing with you. I don't deny the colonial history from European nations and their descendents. I also believe that it's important to understand because it's not so long ago, and it's kinda important to understand the state of the world today. However... I don't feel guilty for it, because I wasn't there. I neither supported it, voted for it, or actually did annything in that context. I think I have enough stuff to worry about in my life then to worry about actions of my ancestors. ๐Ÿ˜…

@Kwek00 Cant deny facts
Kwek00 ยท 41-45, M
@SW-User Well... People are pretty good at it ๐Ÿ˜…

You know... Belgium had this little place in Africa called "the Congo". And Belgium gave up the Congo in 1960. During the time that Belgium had the Congo... there were some pretty bloody pages in history. And even in more quiet times (like the 1950s) there were Belgians over there that did some pretty bad stuff. Some of these people (or at least the children of them) are still alive. And a few years back there was a journalist that asked people that were there how they looked at it. Most people that were interviewed had the impressions that they were doing great work there. They had this idea about how they were helping people, how they were getting them vaccinated, how they gave schooling to the kids. The facts that weren't so nice, either didn't weigh up too all the good they did OR were just forgotten. Why is that? Because these people either had a diffrent morality at the time they were there OR believe in a romantic version of history. Because people rather believe they were the good guys then the bad. Most people in history that do atrocities believe that they are doing the right thing.

@Kwek00 ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I dont understand the mentality to be honest.

@SW-User Why not?
SW-User
@Kwek00 Of people denying what's there in front of them. For who is it good for? Against whose standards.

Dude, it's saturday night.
Kwek00 ยท 41-45, M
@SW-User Either it's because of their moral system which they use to evaluate something. Or it's because of pure denial, it's pretty hard for certain people to understand that the site they support isn't pure. ๐Ÿ˜…

It is saturday night... the canaries are playing against the last team in the rankings. And we aren't winning. GOOOOO CANARIES ๐Ÿฃ

@SW-User The Canaries just officially lost against a team with a win/draw/loss record of 5/2/19. They have a chance to not be last now. You should see how happy they are. ๐Ÿ˜‚
