Nooooooooo, I believe in free speech, as long as they aren't harassing me, I don't block them. That would be a demonstration of intolerance.

I find the thought of free speech being used as an excuse to promote hatred disturbing, to be honest, but I don't doubt it happens.

@fazer1k: Then you are clueless. The first amendment was written for the specific purpose of protecting OBJECTIONABLE speech, not speech which everyone finds acceptable. As I am not part of the government I am not required to extend this tolerance but I find it is better to allow this type of speech rather than censor it because censoring by private citizens is just a stepping stone to the government censoring speech. And it will not stop with what YOU or I find objectionable. Does not mean you cant criticize it. By all means, we should criticize it, but we cant do that if we censor it.

@Katielass: Perhaps I am clueless. Or perhaps I'm just a decent person who does not like to see others attacked. If free speech protects those attacks then I would say your amendments need updating to reflect modern standards of decency and human rights.

@fazer1k: You don't seem able to grasp the concept. It doesn't have anything to do with decency. It has to do with everyone's right to speak freely. And it is a necessary right since not everyone agrees on what is acceptable and what is not. As I stated before, if you don't like what someone says, exercise your free speech rights to criticize it. Go to town on it but don't ever think YOU have the right to decide what is acceptable and what isn't because you alone do not. And you never will.

And you don't seem to grasp the concept times have changed and we are no longer living by 18th century standards. I do have a right to decide what is acceptable to me thank you, and if you think otherwise, I really don't care.

@fazer1k...Yep, you have the right to decide what YOU find acceptable but you do NOT have the right to decide for the rest of us what is acceptable. That means you have a choice. You can either ignore speech you don't like or learn to tolerate it because, and trust me on this, YOU will not win this little war on speech. You and people like you have pushed this as far as you're gonna push it. You will not win. Free speech will prevail and you can like it or lump it. I could not care less which choice you make. You're nuttier than a fruitcake.

@Katielass: My question says nothing about free speech. You are obviously upset because the question hit a nerve. Actually I prefer chocolate cake.

@Katielass: You and I don't agree on very much, but I have to agree with you on this.
