My best friend told me that taking kids down for being aggressive is abusive. She's wrong or right?

My best friend told me that taking kids down for being agreasive is abusive. I disagree. She asked what do we do when kids get agreasive and hit teachers. I told that we take hold then down on a mat so they don't hurt the kids and throw shit. She said it's abusive and should not be working at a horrid job like that. She's like, "I have to say this to you and don't take it offensively, what were you thinking taking that JOB?! You don't really like that don't you?"
She said it with an attitude. We don't abuse the kids or anything. That's what we do. I said don't give me an attitude and she told me she was being honest.
