Why is kindness so hard to come by?

Pfuzylogic · M Best Comment
It is on the top shelf so you have to use your tippy toes to get it.

That’s one of the last evolutionary traits to develop and the human species is still working on it. Think about it. Have you ever heard of kind cavemen? I’m sure rape and murder were as common as hunger back then. A conscience only came in handy once we started developing societies. Kindness is a late concept considering our timeline.

@Rokasu The worst thing technology has done is exaggerate some malicious tendencies that were already there. I agree. Humans have had empathy issues for a very long time. Long before the internet.
Rokasu · 36-40, M
@Reject And now we have US propaganda being exposed all too easily, yet still in place. It's weird how dysfunctional, yet still functional we are as a country. I almost wonder if the Trump stuff was a deliberate ploy to show just how much control our leaders have.

[Edit] Or to wake us up.

@Rokasu Organized crime is much harder to deal with than civil unrest, to the point it can be made obvious but there’s little we can do about it.
Bc everyone is greedy and putting themselves first
Rokasu · 36-40, M
@Dewms Agreed. They only care about what you can do for them, not how they affect you.
We're all part of the rat race and kindness can slow you down
Rokasu · 36-40, M
@BeefySenpie True true. Those who help are stuck helping the weak.

Because sadness is toxic and not so hard to come by.
SW-User
@Rokasu I don't know...
Rokasu · 36-40, M
@SW-User Do you think it would help?
Rokasu · 36-40, M
@SW-User Alright let me rephrase that. Did you want to talk somewhere else besides here?
Pinto · 61-69, M
The key is to be kind yourself....it tends to attract kindness back at you. So ask yourself...are you being kind in the first place?
Rokasu · 36-40, M
@Pinto So being kind to yourself... What if that pushes others away because they are a part of the anti-kindness?
Pinto · 61-69, M
@Rokasu You should always be kind to yourself...but what I meant to imply was that you need to be kind to others as well. That act of kindness often draws kindness in return. Exhibiting a lack of kindness rarely draws kindness. And...if they are anti-kindness....then chances are they'll just be that way no matter....so be prepared or just move on to others.
Rokasu · 36-40, M
@Pinto Sorry I was playing some oldschool Aidolovemostyourthoughts devil's advocate. I get what you mean and I agree completely.

I also understand that nothing can be 100% in regards to the statement made. Trying to isolate kindness as it's purest form creates a paradox of sorts.
slobound · 46-50, M
Because empathy is a fleeting trait these days sadly
slobound · 46-50, M
@Rokasu I think as technology has grown and social media has blown up the culture of it has actively eroded the concept of empathy, especially in recent years
Rokasu · 36-40, M
@slobound Possibly yes. I'm personally on the side of technology allowing the exposure of our lack of empathy in a much more observable state. People have always lacked the care to provide empathy.
slobound · 46-50, M
@Rokasu I think the ability to empathize is there in everyone but modern life and technology has pushed humanity in too much of an "us or them" dynamic that pings off of the inherent human fear of otherness creating a narcissistic crisis in humanity.
because humans are giant assholes. literally you are just talking to a giant growth from an ass.
eMortal · M
Because it goes against current morals.
Rokasu · 36-40, M
@eMortal What are the current morals?
eMortal · M
@Rokasu no one want to be in debt to anyone. When you try an act of kindness the other person rush to do something to make it even, killing the purpose of the initial kindness.
People feel safer when they know exactly what you want to offer and what they have to give in exchange.
Drewman · 46-50, M
It's simple to come by.... Not easy but simple.

If you are looking for it, you will find it.
SW-User
It's hard to find selfless people who don't suck.
Amongst the right crowd, it isn’t.
Lostpoet · M
It's not really hard
Because some people equate kindness with weakness, sadly enough. 😳
