Its completely acceptable for a woman to wear either a dress or jeans. They are usually viewed as straight. However, when a man wears a dress, he is stereotyped as gay. Some bigots still look down at male gay behavior.😶

Just a little bit of trivia...
The skirt has been worn by men since the 14rh Century if not before that time, the same goes for high heals... The origin of high-heels can be traced back to 15th century Persia when soldiers wore them to help secure their feet in stirrups. Persian migrants brought the shoe trend to Europe, where male aristocrats wore them to appear taller and more formidable.

They can and they do, but I only wear what I think I can get away with. I went to the shop today because I just want to get myself something warm to wear, so I ended up going to Marks and Spencers. The reason why, my house is bloody freezing atm, so much so that I can wear a sheep. lol. Anyway.

I first wandered into the Men's section and I seen this fleece I really liked, had the fluffy material on the inside and I guess it must be new season stuff because I looked at the price tag and it was £40, around about that, so I was curious, I wandered into the Ladies section and this turtle neck sweater caught my eye and I liked the pattern of it, I could get away with it, I looked at the price tag, £35. I was like Ok, that is a bit more affordable and you know I like to have money left over for other things. I tried it on in the fitting room, took it to the Men's fitting room, I used the Ladies fitting room one time without even realising it, I wandered into the Men's one today, only like one cubicle in it. I guess, because Men don't have a problem trying out things there and then in the shop and the Ladies, when you are shopping we know how long you like to be. lol.

Anyway, I tried it on me and it was one of those Turtleneck pull over sweaters, and when I had it on me, I was like, this wouldn't be too far from what Grannies would like to wear or Mrs Doubtfire lol. Anyway, I said, to myself, right if this doesn't keep me warm in my house, there is something wrong, because it was soft, but it was made of wool. As for the style, or pattern, it didn't matter, because older women clothing in my view is slightly masculine anyway. And so if I wore this with some coat or dressed with other clothing that I have, it might just work and I could get away with it. I could post a photo of it up later if you all would like to see? :)

I put the Men's Fleece back, it is a good one, but I can always come back later when the price falls down a bit before I buy. And when I went up to the till to pay for this Turtleneck pullover sweater? £25 it was! And I'm like, right, I don't care this is the way to do it and also, bloody bargain! :)

Many womens clothes are made for accentuating female shape and body parts, so we'd look daft.

In these days of political correctness, it seems they can. I saw a young man wearing a dress around town a couple of weeks ago. It’s not mainstream, and the general public may find it a bit strange, but it’s happening.

I hear it both ways when wearing a kilt. Some people can't see past the obvious but overall it's positive. But then a kilt is cut for a male body.

Women look good in our clothes.

We look ridiculous in women's clothing.

Although it is not illegal for a man to wear ladies clothes, it is looked down upon by most of society. It is just a double standard society has, and it isn't fair to those men that enjoy wearing women's clothing.

I believe in the larger cities it is more accepted, but in small towns like the one I live in it is not. Too many closed minded people.

It is just clothing, but society has it "rules".

Nothing stopping them but they might get bullied or worse from some people.
It IS dumb. Double standard. But it's changing.

the only thing that might stop them is the looks from close minded people. It is quite legal here and I see nothing wrong with it.

They can and do here. It’s not illegal.
There's no law prohibiting it. But it'll be awkward.

@babydon wrong.. as factually men dressed as women are out and about EVERY day and fwiw most women don't wear men's clothes.. they tend not to be cut in a way that's accommodating for women's figures.
