Why is suicide illegal?
If someone doesn't want to live anymore they should be able to make it happen. If assisted suicide was legal and there was a clinic nearby I'd be heading over there right now.

So, like several other issues its hyperpolitical. Not hyper political in the sense that its int he news a lot but rather the argument varies greatly from person to person.
Looking at this first as apolitically as possible, as westerners we can all agree that human life has value and is worth protecting. Furthermore human life is valued much greater than animal life. That is why homicide is very bad but killing a spider is like “whatevs”.
It is western society’s belief that someone who has lost the appreciation of life in ANY SENSE be it pain or depression or whatnot. Is unwell and BECAUSE suicide is irreversible and causes harm to all connect to the victim, it should be avoided at all costs. We tend to think that someone who is seriously considering suicide is mentally or physically unwell. To help them, we want to do ANYTHING ELSE to help them recover and get out of that state before suicide is completed.
Now we ALL have had FML kind of days. Society has a way of making us slaves. How often do we joke about work killing us and stuff. BUT!! There are logical ways out of it (that we don’t always see) sometimes our culture presses so much on us in terms of expectations that we want to give up. And sometimes that means giving up everything. The key thing to learn is life is hard but all you gotta do is survive. Sometimes ppl commit suicide because it is a release to their worldly problems, but is it really worth It? Quit your job, live like a hippie, take a long vacation do anything that will help you recharge. Societies responce is heavy-handed but there are usually ways around the troubles that ail you.
You are not alone at it gets better. Really it does.
