Can anyone explain the concept of trick or treat?

REMsleep · 41-45, F Best Comment
You dress up and walk around your neighborhood going door to door to "scare your neighbors, " Traditionally only the little bitty kids favored the non scary costumes but now it's a free for all. You say "trick or treat" when someone opens the door. Mostly they give you candy or rarely some small toy for little kids. You don't go to the houses that have the porch lights off so everyone who opens the door gives you a treat. But theoretically if the home owner doesn't give you a treat then you do something bad or mischievous like scare them or TP their house

@REMsleep So this is how kids learn extortion.🤔

Willie Mays hands out baseballs during halloween. Not sure if he still does that. - Of course no autograph.

@MarmeeMarch Thats simple.. He wants kids to throw and hit them. Not put them under glass.😉
@whowasthatmaskedman Or sell them on ebay - then his signature value takes a dive

Its a double standard. Try setting up a few pits with sharpened bamboo spikes in the bottom and claymore mines and suddenly you are the worst neighbour on the street.

It's a watered down, commercialized version of ancient religious ceremonies that almost no one practices anymore.

If you trick me with treats, I treat you with tricks :P

It's simple: You knock and DEMAND your candy!

Its just about money. That's why stores make so much on this holiday. That is all. 🙂

@Zonuss Exactly. I wanted to buy some bags of candy to give to children and the bags were $14 each!! Not buying those at all.

@goagainsttheflow Good gosh. Go to Family Dollar or the Dollar Tree for Petes sake. 🙄

You go door to door as kids dressed up in costumes asking people for free candy. It's just a tradition.

You do a trick with your feet and then you treat them with a pedicure.
