Social situations

Last month before I moved, I was having a conversation with a friend of mine over a few drinks. We were discussing a few occurrences at work in addition to several coworkers when a particular topic arose. Not to delve into details, she did provide one piece of information that stuck with me. “People around here don’t like quiet people..”. She replied while grinning over the rim of her third shot of whiskey. “That’s why they stay away. They need chaos. They don’t know what to do with someone who doesn’t”

So.. Is this really true? And what is it about quiet people that is so abhorrent or unsettling? How could silence, which is usually calming and necessary for relaxation and introspection, be so threatening?

Those who operate in stealth mode invite curiosity of many as they don't participate in any activity and remain unknown .. as the saying goes .. they like a known devil but never an unknown angel ..

@RedRhapsody I don't get you.. you mean what if I stick to being what I am ?

@in10RjFox What if you chose to be neither one thing nor the other, but whatever you wish to be? Is that still seen as a negative thing?

@RedRhapsody depends on whose side you are or get beside you.. smart ones find a group for protection.

Interesting and to a point I agree with your friend... Not sure why but some people are addicted almost to talking bad news, what happened to someone else.... Give me a nook and a book any day
you dont know where quiet people are coming from..... you dont know what makes them tick.... or what their weaknesses are.

Ever notice it is the quiet villains who are to be feared the most?
