@cherokeepatti sometimes, but the real reason is because if the owner doesn’t put up that sign, a person can roam freely on their property. The problem is that a person that has an accident on their property can sue the owner (which is dumb). The sign revokes the right to roam, giving them legal armor.

@ShaythePanTransMan People with ponds and lakes on their property will post those signs and people will still try to fish in them. If anything would happen, such as they fell in the lake and drowned, the owner could get sued if they didn’t have that sign posted. Yes it is stupid.
