Too many dogs are in the pound right now.....go pick one out... bonus; you get to skip the puppy stage and don't have to spend a fortune

@Notanymore yes, get a rescue dog, but be careful you are not adopting a dog who suffered puppyhood trauma (abuse or neglect) and is permanently messed up.

Also dogs are very social animals, unlike cats. So get two!

@Notanymore When I went with my brother to the Anti-Cruelty Society (I paid the adoption fee for his birthday) he was able to get a full-blooded beagle, but it was still a puppy. The only bad thing about that dog was that beagles howl. He and his then-wife went to her parents for Thanksgiving, and the pup was locked up in their apartment. I didn't have the key, so I couldn't get in, and he cried until they came home. My dad collared him when he got home and ordered, "Take care of your organ!" When he figured out my brother and his wife went to work but they eventually returned, the howling stopped.

@MaryJanine buddy cute name

@Shina He came with it. When you adopt in the Anti-Cruelty, they give you a choice of keeping the same name or changing it. Most people keep what their pet is named.
