rckt148 ยท 61-69, M
I was the original "Rocket " ,,no other numbers ,just Rocket
But my PC crashed and I forgot my passwords while it was down
I hadn't set up a recovery e mail
So I couldn't retrieve my password
They suggested rckt148 ..not only am I no longer Rocket ,,there are 147 other rckts ,but old friends know what rckt stands for

My screen name is a memorial of one of the bravest men I ever knew
A young man who operated small boats in Vietnam ,who joined the US Coast Guard as prior service
He could do things with a boat like nothing I ever seen
Jumping a road was kids play ,,,he would slide up on a beach on our side
grab someone and end up back in the water ,,never letting off the throttle
Hit a wake from a tug boat and shoot us 20 feet in the air
Like holding on to a motor cross bike ,but it was a 19 ft boat ,,cool as hell
Spin a boat on a dime ,,kill his wake ,,land beside the dock and you just stepped off ,,drop mooring line over a cleat ,,on to do paperwork
a write up they were not going to believe ,,He was always the hero
If he was in the search party ,we always found the missing people and we always brought them home alive ,its was like he had a 6th sense ,,he was good.you could just reach down and pull the victim on board when we found people in the water ,,when he went full reverse the boat stopped like it had brakes ,
and he was a hero ,he saved more lives then any man I know and thats state side ,,he rarely talked about what he did in Nam ,,but I know other guys that served with him ,,they said he was always a life saver ,,the "Real Deal "

I was facing 40ft sea's ,in a hurricane ,,,and I see a yellow strobe
He was running the "Pilot" boat ,,he takes Captains out to ship's so they can pilot huge ships into the inlet and to port

But he jumps on my deck and says he just had to check up on his crew
In a hurricane ,he lets his boat go adrift ,,
It was a piece of cake getting him back on board ,,I was trained by the best

He was killed in 1977 ,,His 1957 tear drop top Vet and Rocket met their end
He was a "Real Legend " I never plan to forget ..He was my Hero
The man who taught me everything I know about saving lives and running boats
