Can you relate? 😉

I remember a treat we use to get was a piece of white bread in a bowl with a bit of milk poured over. Sugar sprinkled on top then a banana sliced and laid on top!

Garlic bread is the last one I made before stopping gluten.

It was great.

Replace growing up poor with gluten free bread, it is basically the same dough for all recipes

I remember. Remember spam back in WWll during the great depression?

Hmmm not that old;-) but I do remember my folks being hit hard by the recession in the early 80’s, my dads business going under. They lost everything and life was difficult for a long time. @FreestyleArt

@FreestyleArt Actually, the great depression was past its halfway point when Spam was invented. The depression hit during the stock market crash in 1929 and lasted about 10 years. Spam was invented or released in 1937. I *think* Hormel was the company that came up with it. It was a big thing during WWII and the Korean War.

And not a food bank in sight.

That just wasn’t a thing when I was a kid. They’re all over now and maybe my folks were just to proud to accept help. They didn’t do welfare or the like. My dad would have never allowed it. @TheConstantGardener
