Here is the thing about "I choose what is acceptable for me". You can do this a pretend that other people's opinion's on acceptable don't matter, and you'll probably end up alone after you cross all over their boundaries. Or you can at least be reasonable and try to understand or think about whatever point they're making. At the very least you can come up with a legitimate argument beyond the societal norms that were blatantly sexist. That's not a legitimate rebuttal to that, that's like saying "well 100 years ago I would have legally beaten your ass for saying that" like tf?
