I think it's a few things:
* Most do love their new country. Really.
* Often they face attitudes that their country or culture are inferior. They shouldn't have to feel ashamed of who they are or where they've come from.
* No-one can just 'change culture' overnight. Second generation tend to be a stronger mix of both.
* They don't ever have to become exactly like you and me.

@Abstraction for the first point, I did meet immigrants who talk trash about white people, their culture, religion even though they decided to move there permanently.
This isn't anything about inferiority. Not all immigrants but several of them like to rub onto people that their culture and religion is great. I am talking about non Christian immigrants who often treat minority Christians like a garbage and yet move to a Christian majority country.
I agree with that third point but sometimes that attitude can be passed to second generation.
No one can be like us. But it's necessary they could practice tolerance.

@JBird Yes, you do get some who come and criticise the culture of the country they have come to. I hear you.
