Does your gym member ship allow you to go to any gym?

Any gym of the same name...

I find it odd that the 'cheap plan' only allows me to go to one gym. What if I go there and hate the staff, of all my coworkers go there after work and I don't want to lose that gym?
Do I get forced to pay every month and not able to switch to another gym completely?
