What was the worst thing your parents said to you and why?

I lied to my dad about going to my friends for a sleepover but we went to a concert that I wasn't allowed to go to and smoking weed. My dad went OFF ON ME BIG TIME. He screamed at me and said, "I worked my ass off providing for this family and you're doing this stupid shit?! I can't even look at you right now! You lied in my face and I tried to keep you from prison! If you were latina or black, you would have gotten it worse!!! I was stupid for ever trust you! You know better! Go to your room! I can't even look at you right now!"
Then he gave me a hard lesson about lying and sneaking out. I was 15. I was grounded for a LONG TIME. My dad gave me brutal hard talk about it. He got on be bad. I wish my dad didn't have to be so blunt. I never did that again.

my parents said a lot of bad things to me that kinda cut down my self-esteem, but parents are human and they'll make mistakes...

My mother said so many godawful, terrible things to me over the years that I even wouldn't know where to begin. Here are a couple of examples:

When I was in my 40s, an established award winning teacher working in a juvenile detention center, with three college degrees, all with honors, including one grad degree, all earned on my own without her help or encouragement (in fact, she threw away my mostly completed notes for my graduate thesis in the departing garbage truck and smiled triumphantly when I discovered it), she told me that she had no respect for me "because respect has to be earned and you've never earned it."

Here is one she stated frequently:

"All my friends have wonderful daughters...and I have you."

I think the worst was probably being told (repeatedly) that he could kill me and my sister and say it was an accident and everyone would believe him because we're just girls and no one gives a shit about girls. All we're good for is cleaning and sex.

Sorry for the run on sentence. I heard it at least once a week for years.

@Shayla that makes me so angry

@ShaythePanTransMan Yeah. I remember it, but I don't hold anger over it anymore. I have better things to do with my energy.

@Shayla That’s smart :)

Lol that seems so light to me. That was like a regular week day talk and I was considered a good kid at my time :))
I think mine would have ripped me a new one if I got involved with drugs.

The worst things my parents said to me was nothing. Once my mother stoped talking to me completely for a week. I did mess up pretty big but it still felt like a huge punishment.
Dad's typically are very concerned about their daughter's welfare. It was a while back so hopefully amends have been made. Trust however can take a while to repair..

@Majorlatency He yelled at me BIG time and he said he was stupid for trusting me.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@UnlovedDaughter01 If he really didn't care or even love you, why would he so worried about you? Why wouldn't he just leave you alone and forget about you if he didn't care or love you?

The yelling is precisely why he cares about you. He wants better for you than anyone else. Yes you have betrayed his trust. Now that it's over though, just do better! Know that he does care for you, or he would just forget about you.

“God made you a girl and that’s how you’re gonna stay.” I remember that day, blood soaking through my jeans....
Stuff they didn't really mean so it doesn't matter anymore

I went through that and kept doing it.
