What's the difference between Confidence and Vanity?

I consider myself confident, but some people think I am Narcissistic.
But then what's the difference between the two? And why is one good and the other is bad?

My opinion - confidence is I know I have the tools and I’m willing to work to succeed. Narcissism is, I deserve to succeed, and everybody should work to get me there.

Confidence knows that it doesn't know everything and that's ok. Arrogance (or as you call it vanity) thinks they know everything and is unteachable.

Confidence is unwavering action; Vanity is pretentious talking... (Do-er's vs Bullshitters)

someone with confidence will take the initiative and do something themselves; a vane person tells people to do things that they're unwilling to do themselves...
