How come most adults don't believe in "sorry" anymore?

Even when I child apologized they don't respond.
My dad told me to back off when I kept pestering him about something and I would apologize over and over until he snaps and says, "I HEARD YOU! Stop saying sorry. I don't wanna hear it. I don't have to prespond."

“I’m sorry...I was wrong...I apologize”
are good things. Saying ‘I’m sorry” repeatedly doesn’t actually mean you’re sorry. It means you want the other person to forgive you and forget it ever happened. They may not be ready to do that.

@Mamapolo2016 Exactly. Sometimes when people are wronged, they're just angry for a while after, and saying sorry repeatedly won't fix that, sadly. Some people just need to cool down and move on in their own way, in their own time.
@SW-User Yes. If you are truly sorry, you may have to live with the cold shoulder for an hour or a day or so.

A neighbor of mine always apologized in the third person. “Clyde can be a real jerk, but he’s sorry.”

So convincing.

@Mamapolo2016 I seen your reply on my home page scrolling down so decided to revisit post to say I would love to meet Clyde. 😂
