If verification became mandatory on here, would you stay or would you pack your things?

I think it should be mandatory..
I reckon 70% on here are fake
SW-User
@SW-User True, what's even worse is that there are minors who lie about their age so they don't get auto-blocked.
SW-User
@SW-User it's a simple ask,verify yourself or no account..
Sharon · F
@SW-User What does verification really prove? IOW, how is the verification process verified?
SW-User
@Sharon you pose for a photo(I think two actually),with something written on a piece of paper held in front of you..
Then it's proved you say who you are. If anyone decides to be an arse,the administration peeps can see who they are..
It's a first move into making our lil family here safer..
Sharon · F
@SW-User That doesn't prove the person is who they claim to be.

What difference does a photograph make?

Or more dangerous by making members complacent. "Ah, it's OK, she's verified." :(
SW-User
@Sharon So it doesn't give you confidence that someone you've spoken to,is who they say they are?
I know it's not enough,but it's a start.
We all want to find honest people, to chat with..I do

@SW-User
So it doesn't give you confidence that someone you've spoken to,is who they say they are?
That's right. You're verified but I'm not confident your name is really "HotPizza", not that it matters anyway. I hope my doubt doesn't offend you.

I prefer to base my opinion of others on how they are to me, not whether they've sent a photograph to a third party. Being verified doesn't stop a person being dishonest. As I said, this verification process could cause complacency.
SW-User
@Sharon I totally understand..it doesn't stop a person lying about who they are emotionally etc..
But that's the name of the game here. Finding that connection,and believing in them
Sharon · F
@SW-User
Finding that connection,and believing in them
That's really my point. Verification doesn't help with that and potentially hinders it.

We've chatted quite amiably even though I'm not verified. What difference would it make if I were or your weren't? TBH, I never take any notice of a poster's verification marker. Most of the time I don't even see it, it's totally unimportant to me.
SW-User
@Sharon Totally agree with you..but for me, knowing somebody has taken the time to verify who they are,could lead you to believe they are going to be more truthful (with some exceptions as always,I know!)
Some/ most of my friends are not verified,but I've been chatting with for a while,and believe them to be who they say they are..so it's not the be all and end all
Sharon · F
@SW-User
taken the time to verify who they are,could lead you to believe they are going to be more truthful
Exactly my point about complacency.
SW-User
@Sharon but I know that,and am careful,more so lately with an increase in some idiots I've seen!
SW-User
@SW-User taking a quick look at your groups( as we all do) it says your a Female,but you've a beard!!
A joke perhaps,or a leaning towards another truth beyond your SW profile?
Now I have doubts whether you are real woman..
Sharon · F
@SW-User LOL! My husband has a beard. I'm not sure which specific group you're referring to ("I have a beard" perhaps?) but I expect I was automatically added when I posted to it about my husband having a beard.
Sharon · F
@Sharon I was half right, I was added to the "I Have a Beard" group because I posted there that "A beard is a sign of a man, only they have beards." -

SW-User
@Sharon Hmmm..I have visions now of the bearded lady from The Greatest Showman..
I only thought you'd joined a group when actually pressing the button for it
